Taking on the massive rock faces of the Niagara Glen for Victoria Day 2026. James just wanted to get on the wall and climb, but Dad got a little distracted by a baby bird with a boulder nest (the bird did tell us to buzz off 🛑🦅). James makes the first big ascent look easy; this climb was too difficult for father. Following a finger injury from fall 2020 the winter consistent of rehabbing on a home hang board, which blended into strength training as the injury healed. I came out to the glen spring of 2021 with probably the strongest fingers I’ve ever had, but with very little time actually climbing (lockdowns). I had a lot of fun working out the moves with my friend Noah and I gotta thank him for his patience. I think there was at least 8 "last go" attempts before I finally sent it and we actually moved on. The Glen - Niagara Falls Old Country - Georger Area Pica - V5 Here is most of the process that I went through to get the send on this boulder problem. I missed the initial day starting on it and going through beta's for the first time but this captures sessions 2,3,4 & 5. Looking at the footage now, its easy to see I need to work on dialling in my beta and remembering the movement better. Each attempt I believe I was strong enough but because of many minor mistakes, I was always wasting valuable energy that I needed for the end crux moves (where I fell from about 90% of my attempts). When trying to match that second last crimp, I would always let my upper body sag a little which caused gravity to be victorious. Even on the send go you can see my body sag a little and I struggled to hold on. The Glen - Niagara Falls Old Country - Georger Area Darlene - V4 Mostly raw footage of the approximate 20 minute process I went through to get the send on this problem. It was my first time trying it with no prior knowledge or having seen anyone on it before. Its only a V4 but its still neat to see the process that I went through from start to finish. What seems like obvious beta now was so blind to me at the beginning. I was definitely over complicating things and adding unnecessary moves. Im amazed at my muscle memory once I got it though. The end shows two different sends that looks nearly identical not only in physical movement but in my breathing as well. What started off as feeling super hard, became repeatable right away and I'm psyched on that! I had no plans for this to be a youtube video, I just kind of turned it into one. I'm gonna try uploading more consistently again, more so climbing related content. Some may be short send clips, edits or longer un cut raw videos.
